SURFILMFESTIBAL PRO: Surf Foto - Surf Photography Workshop

At this new stage of Surfilmfestibal, we focus on workshops given by professionals within the surfing audiovisual scene to transmit their experience and form future artists. Our aim is to support local film and photo productions.

With Xsories, we have launched a digital and analog photography workshop applied to surfing with Pacotwo and Roke, two of the most active photographers in our coast. A workshop designed for anyone interested in photography, willing to acquire basic knowledge to improve your stils. No previous experience is required, so…you have no excuses!

the workshop will take place on friday June 21, from 16.00 to 20.00 at Casa de Cultura Gros-Okendo, Taller 1 -Av de Navarra, 7, Donostia.
Workshop Content:
1. Why use analog photography these days?
• Advantages and disadvantages
• Equipment and formats: 35mm, 120mm, 4x5, 8x10, Instant, Pinhole
• Film: type of film, film development
• Mixed processes and workflow: Scanning, film scanners, colour adjustment, preparation
2. Digital surfing photography
• Minimum required equipment: camera, lenses, watercam.
• Basic aspects: light as a necessary element, technique and composition.
• Workflow: developing RAWS, automatisms
• Professional landscape: how to submit your work to magazines, websites. Useful tips.

Free Inscription: send us your contact details to info@surfilmfestibal before June 15 to book your place.

Pacotwo, Javi Muñoz, together with Sergio Villalba, has created We Photo Agency, specialized in surfing, lifestyle, travel, fashion etc. He publishes regularly on specialized magazines, such as 3Sesenta, SurfEurope, Surfing, Surfer,... and works for surfing brands like Volcom, Oakley and Quiksilver.

Iker Basterretxea, Roke, is a freelance photographer. He started to shoot with a homemade waterproof case he made himself, and although he is still linked to surfing, he is now also focused on product and advertising. He is a true analog photography supporter; he still uses film for many of his missions, but mostly on his personal projects.
