BIG WAVES: Paddling vs TOW IN
A double session around big waves ¿Jet skis or paddling? We bring up a subject all the best big wave surfers in the World speak about these days. To have a better understanding of this issue, we have programmed two tow in film sessions at the Aquarium, on June 1st, and a paddling film session at the Teatro Principal on June 10th.

FUTURE
This session means a double statement: New ways of financing film productions: Surfing the Wild East is an original documentary film financed by crowd funding. Imberno is the second short-film by up and coming local filmmaker Igor Bellido, representing the future of surf films in our country. Happy Beach is Jack Coleman’s second work, a unique Californian surfer who brings us close to some of the most progressive surfers of our days, and he does it using analogue film equipment. ¿Is the past the future?

Imberno

Igor Bellido. Basque Country. 2012. 25 min

Imberno presents a vibrating trip at a compelling speed through the Canary Islands, where the surf is the driving force of a small universe full of crazy staff. A beginning and an end mark every trip we take on. Dare betting it all, playing underwater poker or undressing a couple of beautiful girls. This film has it all; you only need to escape cold weather and monotony to live the best “imberno” of your life.
