To share the line-up with girls is not unusual on our coasts. Over the past few years, a lot of girls have started to surf and we hope that what use to seem rare, becomes ordinary soon.

Surfers on the verge of legality
If it depended on us, we’d spend all of our time surfing or searching for waves. Of course, we need to work and earn money to fuel our urge for waves. From Mickey Dora and his tricks to finance his jet set nomad lifestyle, to all bad boy surfers’ mishaps, surfing history is marked by people who aim to lead a life without schedules, allowing them to seize the good tide conditions.

Dear & Yonder

Tiffany Campbell. 2009. USA. 68 min.

Dear & Yonder constitutes a good sample of the different paths girls are paving within surfing, converging through their passion for the ocean. Professional surfers the size of Stephanie Gilmore, Sally Fitzgibbons, Silvana Lima, Coco Ho, Lee-Ann Curren and Sofia Mulanovich travel to Indonesia, where they surf liquid caves with grace as well as power. On the other hand, Kassia Meador, Ashley Davis and Prue Jefferies enjoy a trip to Mexico surfing different boards and perfect waves.
