Celebrating nature, positive progress, and activism! This is Surfilmfestibal14

This year we are celebrating fourteen years of the festival. The culture, the films, the fashion, the image, the industry — all have changed and evolved, but the essence remains the same. There have been both good things and bad sides to this evolution, and as a festival we want to continue to champion those causes we see as just.

If waves are going to be destroyed in the name of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, as seems likely, we think it would be right for the global surfing community to boycott those Olympics. Research and development, the circular economy, a greater awareness about the nature and extent of our consumption — these are among the principles that we as surfers must embody if we are to set an example for the rest of society to follow.

And to all the groms out there, protecting the environment ought to be the height of fashion. With the SAS Activist kit you can become a steward of Mother Nature; don’t expect anyone else to do it for you. Keep ripping, keep enjoying the magic of our sport, and at the same time celebrate and safeguard the natural world in your day to day lives.
